THE WHITE LIE
By Aine

The White Lie is Ron DeCaro’s follow-up effort to Eating Razors. You may remember when we reviewed Eating Razors several months ago. The White Lie is a huge step up from the first film, delivering 100 times the brutality and disturbing subject matter.

The film tells the tale of a drug-addicted father, and as the tagline goes, “Today he will pay.” Unfortunately it’s not a great idea to owe money to psycho drug dealers and he pays with much more than money.

In just over 10 minutes The White Lie manages to leave one with a sense of utter despair, especially if you have children. Some have said that it didn’t go far enough in that it left certain horrific aspects to your imagination, but I think it was just right. If it had gone any further I would have had to turn the review over to someone else who could handle those sorts of things I.E. Toe Tag Pictures style films.

With this much improvement over Eating Razors over such a short period of time (not that Eating Razors wasn’t good, it was excellent in fact) I can’t wait to see what DeCaro comes up with next. And just what does he have up next?

Eating Razors, The White Lie, and third yet-to-be-revealed short will all be together on a DVD called The Brightside Chronicles, then feature film: Soft Spot for Satan.
