Vampires + the Matrix = Underworld

Did you know that thousands of years ago, werewolves were the vampires slaves?

Did you know that for the past one thousand years, vampires and werewolves have been waging a war over blood? Neither did I until I watched Underworld.

Now, understand that this is NOT your typical vampire movie (or horror movie for that matter) although it does keep the “myths” as far as vampires and werewolves go i.e.; silver bullets, sunlight, etc. Instead, Underworld takes a scientific approach, which really puts a new twist on the whole vampire genre. See, it seems that there is a conspiracy, if you will, between the vampires and werewolves, and someone is trying to combine the bloodlines in order to create some super-species, but, due to “dirty little secrets” on both sides, well, lets just say, it gets a bit messy….if I go any further, I will give it away.

Kate Beckinsale plays the sexy and powerful “Selene,” a Death Dealer: a vampire warrior who’s career is to eliminate the Lycans (werewolves) and the delicious Scott Speedman (from Felicity) plays “Michael,” the unsuspecting mortal, or is he?......

I thought that this was a great change from the “romantic” vampire story and really put a different twist on an old favorite. I thought it was fresh and although the movie Blade did kind of change things up in the vampire world first, I was very impressed with the fact of a chick kicking ass as well, if not better, than the Terminator.
