THE TOOTH FAIRY
By Ian Lee Tich

An evil tooth fairy that kills children: sound familiar? Pretty sure this has been done before but at least this one actually focuses on teeth for the most part. The Tooth Fairy tells the tale of a little girl and her mom who go to stay with a special friend as he puts together his new bed and breakfast, only catch is, the evil tooth fairy monster with a nasty skin condition used to inhabit the house.

Soon the little girl is befriended by a little ghost girl, a past victim of the tooth fairy. While she learns the story of the tooth fairy other things happen in town: menacing hillbillies repeatedly attack, and the once bright star that is P.J. Soles appears as the doomsayer, I.E. she keeps showing up in black robes and veils to simultaneously warn of the prophecy and to of course make you wonder if perhaps she is the one behind all of the chaos.

This is really all just the same ridiculous stuff you see in all horror movies, especially the direct to video variety, but there are some rather tasty and amusing kills, which is a pleasant break from the monotonous hack and slash we’re usually expected to stomach. There’s an almost sensual, drawn-out shredding, some amusing and unique uses of power tools, and even a few strange and sexual kills, kudos to Steve Bacic and his impressive post partum party stick.

All in all this is a cute little time-waster and while I won’t recommend you seek it out as a horror gem, it certainly won’t make you any worse for the wear having seen it. And at least this time we don’t have to hear Waltzing Mathilda over and over again.
