| RED EYE
Well, after seeing Wes Craven’s last effort ‘Cursed’ I must say that I was more than hesitant to sit through what I was sure to be yet another one of those teeny-bopper molds of a movie. Boy was I wrong! Lisa (Rachel McAdams of Notebook fame) is a people-pleasing hotel manager who has a terrible fear of flying. On her way home to Miami from her grandmothers’ funeral in Dallas, she is delayed at the airport due to some bad weather. While awaiting her flight, she encounters the charming Jackson (Cillian Murphy), with whom she has a drink and some light conversation. Once the delay is lifted, Lisa is surprised to find out that Jackson is going to be her seat-mate on the plane. Little does Lisa know, her fear of flying is going to resurface and it won’t be due to turbulence! Wes Craven has changed things up quite a bit this time and it really is for the better. There are still the same one-liners, shrieking music scores and dark humor, but this movie doesn’t go all over the place character-wise. Instead, you are focused on two main characters throughout the majority of the film. Although far from a “horror”
movie, Red Eye really steps up to the plate and puts Wes Craven into
a whole different light seeing as there aren’t any knife-wielding
psychos! Copyright ©2005, myamalgam.com. All rights
