(I can't be in two places at once, and since I was busy interviewing
Gunnar Hansen
in San Diego, Katie took care of this new convention for me. Here is
her write up. -Aine)
Monster Mania - Cherry Hill, NJ
September 26-28th, 2003
By Katie a.k.a. Taber
I skipped Friday, but attended Saturday and Sunday. I primarily helped
Bill Hinzman at his table, but
I also spent a lot of time checking out the dealer's rooms. Fortunately,
I was seated between Doug Bradley and the ever so cute and entertaining Mark
Goddard on one side, along with Betsy Palmer and Kane Hodder lined up on
the other. Betsy is an absolute sweetheart, she initiated some interesting
conversation.
Apparently, I didn't read the guest list thoroughly, because I was oblivious
to the fact that Neal Smith and Dennis Dunaway (drummer and bassist of Alice
Cooper's original band) were there; Mark Goddard saw my
Alice Cooper tattoo and informed
me- bless his heart. I talked to Neal and Dennis for a good length of time
and asked them to sign the inside of my arm alongside Alice's signature.
Neal was hoping I was going to tattoo his signature as well, but Dennis
wasn't too keen on the idea.
Linea Quigley and Caroline Munro were also there, as well as Ben Chapman
of The Creature from the Black Lagoon. I went to the midnight premiere of
Flesh for the Beast, written and directed by Terry West. I wasn't too into
this movie; the most appealing thing about this film was that
Buckethead composed the score.
I guess if you like naked chicks covered in blood then check this movie out.
Sunday was dragged some and there wasn't a very large crowd, which is typical
of the last night at these events.
Monster Mania went well for
a first time convention, it was a bit disorganized, but overall, I commend
the staff for an awesome show.
