THE STRANGE CASE OF DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE
By Larra

“The heart is the receptacle of the soul”

So, there’s this flick; a new version of the old favorite Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, but this time its set in the modern day and it’s a slasher. Sounds kind of promising……

Dr. Henry Jekyll (Tony Todd) has possibly found a cure for his heart condition. He’s tested it on his lab animals with positive results, so, he decides to test the ‘cocktail’ on himself. Not realizing the consequences, he is transformed into an egotistical Neanderthal that craves the blood of young college co-eds. Is this really a separate entity entirely or just an alter ego born into the mind of the desperate doctor?

Full of humor (though I’m not sure how much was intentional) and some funny one-liners, I just can’t get past the fact that Tony Todd was in this film…. I LOVED him as Candy Man and thought he was great in The Rock and even enjoyed him in Murder-Set-Pieces but, this just seemed too weird. Who knows, maybe that’s what they were going for?

Ummmm….O.K.
