This one’s for the girls……

Once again Eli Roth takes dark humor and horror to a foreign country for a bloody good time, only this time around the students are female.

‘Rich girl’ Beth (Lauren German), ‘party girl’ Whitney (Bijou Phillips) and ‘naïve virgin’ Lorna (Heather Matarazzo) are American students studying art in Europe. They decide to take the advice of the model they have been sketching and travel to a remote Slovakian hostel promising soothing hot springs and a good time but unbeknownst to the girls, the hostel is run by an organization that sells young Americans to the highest bidder.

As the girls enjoy flirting and drinking with the locals, one by one they are kidnapped and taken to a (familiar looking) warehouse where they are dressed up (or down) for their auction winners --which include two American businessmen!

I was very pleased to see that this time around we were able to get a more in-depth look at the “organization” that lures not only its victims but also its participants as well as a closer look at the sadists who just might be living right next door!

From the over-the-top Lady Bathory-style blood bath to the double-whammy shocker of an ending, Hostel II is a good time.
