HOOD OF THE LIVING DEAD
By Aine

Ummmm….why? Yeah, seriously, why? It’s like Night of the Living Dead, but in the hood, get it? Ehh, anyway, despite the fact that Carl Washington, whom I like, is in this, well, yeah. I can’t come up with much. I’ve definitely seen worse, I’ve definitely seen better, but mostly, there just isn’t any reason for this movie to exist.

Summary: Scientist older brother (Carl Washington) takes care of his teenage younger brother. When said little brother gets gunned down, he uses his experimental green (Reanimator anyone?) formula on him to bring him back to life. When it doesn’t work he gives him a double dose. When it still doesn’t work he calls his friend from the lab, the cops, and the body is taken away. But then, you guessed it, the formula works, turning little brother into an obnoxious hood zombie with a hunger for revenge and flesh.

So yep, it’s full of cheesy humor, wooden acting, and bad FX but it is what it is. The most perplexing thing to me was the lead zombie’s moaning. He sounded EXACTLY like Stripe from Gremlins. I kept expecting him to say, “Yum Yum!” Anyway, if you think watching Reanimator mixed with Night of the Living Dead and Boyz in the Hood is a good time, then please check this movie out.
