Andy Lalino and John Karliss’s horrific short comes with a warning about “shocking scenes and sadism.” No kidding. Filthy is without a doubt one of the sickest films to come across my radar in a while but while the sick stuff definitely takes things to a realm seldom seen, the plot is nothing really new.

Ambitious and obnoxious street reporter Dana Diamond is covering Miami’s Halloween eve riots when she follows what looks like a scoop and ends up trapped by a sadistic family of maniacs who proceed to torture Dana in ways which are pretty audacious even by the twisted standards of this genre.

As far as the plot, I have to shout from the hilltops…”Enough with the Chainsaw Massacre-House of 1000 Corpses rip-offs!” “Enough I say!” That said, I found myself enjoying the little bit of sickness. I mean how could you not be impressed by the bobbing for testicles and insane matriarch Fermentia’s little naked dance. Best of all however is the MeatMan. This guy needs his own movie. I was unsure whether he was a hallucination but there’s no need to concern yourself with logic when there’s such entertaining sickness going on.

Strangely my quibble is that it didn’t go further. Now that so many lines were crossed, why not continue? Why not have Dana be sodomized by the MeatMan or something? Guess I’ll have to wait for Filthy 2. Till then, Catheter bag showers anyone?
